Here are the highlights of day 2: Guiyang / Huangguoshu waterfall / Tianxingqiao Stone Forest Scenic Area
We woke up early and started queueing for breakfast. This is China. Lots of people. Come late and you get table scraps for in-hotel breakfast.
We then travelled to Huangguoshu waterfall. Along the way we stop for toilets and I took some photo near the market there.

From there we first visited a temple above a hill (not listed in ASA brochure).
Thien Chong Zhi Thien (Temple Between Skies) is located outside Guiyang along the way to Huangguoshu waterfall.
The forest on the hill is nicely preserved and quite beautiful.

Locals tied red charms on branches of trees and wishes good luck.

Here are the shots around the temple compound:

Or course the beautiful flowers and tour leaders are captured too:

From there we went to an ancient town named Tian Long. It was the base of a general Wu San Gui from the end of Ming Dynasty who rebel again the Ching Dynasty (the last dynasty of Imperial China).
The town folks make a living from making and selling wood carvings handicraft and silver craft, and some embroidery.

Here are some shots of the ancient town:

I also took the picture of this sleeping dog there. This breed is called Pekingese and it is one of the local breed in China.

We watched a shot show of cultural performance from the town dance troupe depicting the staple story of romance of The Three Kingdoms.

The mask worn by the dancer is very similar to the wooden masks you find in some parts of bali.
Here is the picture of some wooden masks sold in the shops in Tian Long ancient town.

This little girl helped her grandparents to sell roasted melon and sunflower seeds. She is very smart for her age and she can already count cash and hand over correct change.

This is an old man who just passed by.

And this is a street-side fortune teller who called for customers to come.

The next attraction of the day were Tianxingqiao Stone Forest and Huangguoshu waterfall. There was a lot of walking.
We first visited the source of the waterfall which is some kind of pool. There is nothing that spectacular there.
Here are some photo:

We crossed a natural bridge stone arch bridge, which key stone (the large stone in the middle) has some pattern which looks like a lion's head.

Here is a closer shot of the bridge's key stone

The forest are well preserved and I took a shot of the sun shining through the leaves.

Further downstream the Baishui river (white water river) becomes more rapid, and we came to the first waterfall.

Then some more walking thru the Tianxingqiao Stone Forest...

And a cable car ride above the river...

And this is a photo take from the cable car.

Then we have to travel by bus to reach the main attraction: Huangguoshu waterfall.
Still there were a lot of walking. If you like trekking then is good for you.
Here are some photo:

We were taken to walk in the natural cave behind the waterfall. This is walkway to the left-side entrance to the cave. It was wet due to the drizzle from the wind blowing at the waterfall. Lucky for me I brought a long the jumbo ziploc bags to keep my camera relatively dry.

And here is one shot behind the water curtain. I knocked my head at the low ceiling around there.

And here is the right-side exit of the cave.

Some more walking and you can see the waterfall from the valley. It is more spectacular here as you really see the size of Huangguoshu waterfall, the largest in Asia.

We crossed the river via a suspension bridge and then went up on possibly the longest escalator in China, which building is shown here.

That concludes day 2 of 9 day trip.
