China holiday: Guizhou & Henan, Day 1 of 9

I went to china for a tour holiday and travel within Guizhou and Hunan, mainly visiting the scenic hills and waterfalls of Guizhou and going to Zhangjiajie in Hunan.

Here are the highlights of day 1, flying from Singapore to Guiyang.

In fact this should not be counted as day one as we did not do any touring at all. Only flying and taken a bus ride to hotel. The flight was scheduled at 6:35 pm.
There is no direct flight yet established between Singapore and Guiyang and thus we took a chartered flight using Silkair.

The flight was 're-timed', a new word to call 'delayed', by about 2 hours. By any other name, it still sucks. One bad event turn to another. Airline meals for those who did not arrange for special meals arrived late. Why? Because about 50% of the passengers asked for special meal. Next time I know how to get in-flight meals fast: ORDER SPECIAL FOOD. Not only that, the air stewardess offered drinks to those who asked for special meals first. So those who did not ordered special meals ate only after all who ordered special meals. At 9 PM.

Silkair unwound me the wrong way. Even if that was a chartered flight, I did not expect service become that bad. Arrival at Guiyang airport is smooth, baggage arrived fast as we are the last flight in the city, arriving at 11 pm. The poor local tour guides must be bored waiting for us.

The final strain is late arrival in the hotel where no porter on duty. They have all gone home. Not a good start at all.
