Finally we reached Yangoon. First destination, the hotel! Check in, and then off to the showroom of a Myanmar Photographer, named ... for some inspiration. His showroom is near Swhedagon Pagoda.

Along the way, we started shooting the people of Yangoon. Take it as warming up.

After that, we finally arrived to Swhedagon Pagoda, also known as the golden pagoda, which I think should actually be called gold pagoda since it is really made of gold, about 1 hour before sunset. We circled around the gold stupa, going clockwise, shooting monks and the people over there.

A few minutes after sunset, volunteers started preparing oil lamps around the pagoda.

Once the preparation was done, a wave of worshipers suddenly appeared and they lit up the oil candles.

Some time later, rows and rows of volunteers came with brooms and mops to clean the ground around the pagoda.

And once it is dark, take a look at the pagoda. It was quite a spectacular view.

Then it is time for dinner.

Time to call it a day, we went back to the hotel to recarge our batteries, literally, and to download the images from our memory cards into harddrive.
